I’m a product designer working across consumer products, enterprise tools, and design systems. Recently I have been designing and building my own product, Tagalong.

Latest work

Tagalong

The Tagalong case study open on a laptop, with the app’s intro screen on a phone beside it.

Target audience:

Parents of children with disabilities juggling multiple appointments with doctors, social workers, therapists, and school teams.

AI collaboration:

I shared the idea, and Claude built a rough prototype. I validated the flows and information architecture, and once the high-level UX was defined, I guided Claude to build the design system. From there, I designed the interface, and Claude executed it from my redlines. I ran usability tests and refined the motion and page transitions. QA took the longest. Most of the inconsistencies and bugs turned up there, and I have been addressing them as I discover new ones.

My Career Journey

Print Design

Craft foundations

Two Harvard Business Review issues from 1998, open to their contents pages.

My first job was an internship at Harvard Business Review. When it ended, I moved into a full-time role in the publisher’s Production department, designing book jackets, newsletters, and packaging. Eight years in print taught me typography, color theory, layout, and how to build templates and style sheets. That is where design systems first clicked for me. I earned an H-1B visa and green card sponsorship along the way.

The Helio Ocean shown twice, open to its QWERTY keyboard and closed to its keypad.

The Helio Ocean was a mobile phone with two sliding keyboards. It shipped seven weeks before the first iPhone. I was an entry-level UI designer, producing the UI assets for its apps, including messaging, email, and Google Maps, and building the style guides for the 2007 and 2008 handsets. Matías Duarte led the team. Most went on to Palm to build webOS. I joined Hulu.

The original 2008 Hulu website on a desktop monitor. Hulu Plus running on an iPhone and an iPad in 2010. The 2012 Hulu website redesign on a laptop.

I started at Hulu as the second product designer before its 2008 launch. I designed the original website and its video player, the advertising experiences, and features including the Super Bowl Ad Zone and the ad selector. In 2010 I designed Hulu’s first native iOS apps, which launched with Hulu Plus. Hulu won a Webby and a People’s Voice Award that year. In 2012 I took over the ground-up website redesign and led it through to launch. In the year it shipped, revenue grew 65% to $695 million, and Hulu Plus subscribers more than doubled to 3 million.

Vessel running on a phone and a tablet, showing a Tastemade video collection.

I was a founding designer for a premium short-form video platform from Hulu’s former CEO and CTO, where subscribers paid to see creators’ videos before public release. I led end-to-end product design across iOS, Android, and responsive web, including a proprietary analytics platform. My designs supported investor presentations for $134.5 million in funding.

A Live TV prototype running on a phone, tablet, laptop and television.

After Verizon acquired Vessel, I rejoined the team from GoPro. We moved faster because we already had trust and shared context. I led the product experience for a next-generation Live TV prototype across phone, tablet, web, and TV. I established the design principles and UX patterns, then used the research team’s findings to refine the experience and inform product decisions.

The Horizon Design System component reference on the ServiceNow Developer Portal.

I joined the design system team and helped build what became the Horizon Design System. It served three layers of users at once: ServiceNow’s own designers, enterprise customers like Nike, and those customers’ employees. I gathered requirements across the company, designed reusable components, and wrote the usage guidelines, now public on the ServiceNow Developer Portal.

HBO Max running across a television, laptop, tablet and phone.

I was the sole IC on the design leadership team, partnering with design directors on a cohesive product experience and mentoring designers across the organization. During a restructuring, I stepped into the interim Sr. Design Director role. After the merger, I worked on an internal tool that gave both HBO Max and Discovery+ visibility into the content delivery pipeline to catch problems before going live on Max.

Three Hubcap screens showing a food hub, a club feed and a meetup post.

I joined Hubcap early and designed features for a social app built around shared group spaces, an alternative to group chats. It also lets you embed videos from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, which had to sit together in one feed without losing the branding each platform requires. I worked with the design lead to carry each feature from concept through high-fidelity execution, and collaborated with executive leadership on product direction.

health-tech startup

I designed clinical and administrative experiences for a healthcare platform, turning what clinicians and hospital operations told us into workflows that hold up under high-stakes tasks. I also built the design system and component library from the ground up, so engineering had one source to build against.

Three Tagalong screens showing the intro, a tagged library and a media viewer.

Tagalong is a private app for parents of children with disabilities to organize their child’s photos and videos, then pull the right ones up at an appointment. I designed it end-to-end and directed the build with Claude. The HTML prototype is live, and the native app is in progress.
